Local Hikes

Limber Pine Trail

Located just above Sunrise Campground at the start of the descent out of Logan Canyon, this hike is perfect for all ages! The trail forms an easy 1.3-mile loop with a smooth walking path and a mild uphill section at the start.

Swan Peak Trail

Located near the base of Beaver Mountain, this 3.6-mile out-and-back trail near Garden City, Utah, offers a moderately challenging hike. On average, it takes about 1 hour and 54 minutes to complete. It’s a great choice for hikers looking for a quieter trail.

Sink Hollow Trail

Sink Hollow is notorious for its frigid winter temperatures, but during the warmer months, it transforms into an inviting and pleasant destination. The trailhead is located near the Beaver Mountain Ski Area along Beaver Creek Road, about a 20-minute drive up Logan Canyon from Bear Lake. The hike offers a moderate 9-mile journey to a charming small lake.

Tony Grove

Located just above Sunrise Campground at the start of the descent out of Logan Canyon, this hike is perfect for all ages! The trail forms an easy 1.3-mile loop with a smooth walking path and a mild uphill section at the start.

Laketown Canyon Trail

If you’re seeking a quieter trail away from the crowds, this is the perfect choice! Start by parking at the rodeo arena in Laketown and head south on 200 E, where the road turns to dirt. Be prepared to cross the stream seven times, so you’ll definitely get wet! About halfway up, you’ll come across a reservoir, and at the top, a refreshing spring awaits. The hike is 3.5 miles one way.

Bloomington Lake

Though it requires about an hour’s drive, this trail is absolutely worth the trip! A brief 0.5-mile hike leads you to the hidden gem of Bloomington Lake. The trail is easy enough for visitors to bring along paddleboards or kayaks, and for the more adventurous, a thrilling rope swing offers the chance to plunge into the refreshingly cold mountain waters!

Hodges Canyon

Set out on this 12.2-mile loop trail near the Pickleville Playhouse, a popular spot for mountain biking and off-road driving. While it’s a favorite for these activities, you can still find peaceful moments during quieter times of the day. The best months to visit are from June through September.

Fish Haven

Fish Haven Canyon is primarily designed for ATVs and RZRs rather than hikers, but it’s a fantastic area to explore if you have the opportunity. The canyon offers access to hundreds of miles of trails, and you might even find yourself venturing as far as Logan!

Winter Activities

What should I do when Bear Lake is covered in snow and ice? The good news is there are plenty of options for the winter! Come enjoy the beautiful outdoors and incredible snow. Just make sure you follow up one of these activities with a toasty beverage and a cozy blanket for those cold winter nights!

Snowmobiling

The Bear Lake Valley and its surrounding mountain ranges offer over 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and wide-open play areas, free from crowds and fences! As you explore, you might even spot an elk or moose. For trail maps, click the link!

Ski Beaver Mountain

Beaver Mountain Ski Resort is one of the valley’s best-kept secrets. With an all-day adult pass priced at just $60, it’s the perfect spot for a family outing or an ideal opportunity to finally teach your kids how to ski!

Fat Tire Biking

Try something new with fat tire biking. It’s an amazing way to explore Bear Lake in the winter! You can rent one from any of the local companies and enjoy one of the many popular biking trails around the lake.

Sledding & Tubing

Feel the wind on your face as you sled. One of our favorite spots is just a few miles into Logan Canyon, The Sinks. The highlight? The hill is incredibly long, making for an exciting ride down. The downside? It’s equally long to hike back up!
